David Bruce Baucom

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Bruce Baucom, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, mentor, and friend. David was born on October 7, 1952, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Bruce and Berneice Baucom. He departed this world peacefully on June 27, 2025, in Mint Hill, North Carolina, surrounded by the love of his family.
David was a man of exceptional character—kind, strong, loving, intelligent, and caring. He had the remarkable ability to see the best in everyone he met, embracing life with an open heart and a warm smile that could light up any room. Throughout his life, he never met a stranger; instead, he made friends wherever he went.
In 1975, David married the love of his life, Teresa Jean Godwin, also from Charlotte, and they shared fifty beautiful years of marriage. Their union was a testament to love and partnership, built upon shared values and a deep commitment to one another. Together, they raised two wonderful daughters, Tracy Kent and Katherine Belo, who were the pride and joy of his life. David cherished his role as a father and particularly enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, Deklan and Blaine, who brought him immense joy and laughter.
David's educational journey led him to obtain an associate's degree in mechanical engineering from Central Piedmont Community College. He dedicated over forty years of his professional life to the field of mechanical engineering, with a focus on aerospace in his later career. His work was marked by innovation and commitment, and he took great pride in every project he undertook.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, David was deeply involved in his community. He coached baseball, softball, and basketball in Mint Hill for many years, impacting the lives of countless children and families along the way. His enthusiasm for sports fostered a sense of camaraderie and teamwork among young athletes, leaving a lasting legacy in the community he loved.
David had a vast array of hobbies and interests that enriched his life. Known for his hands-on approach, there was nothing he couldn't fix, showcasing his knack for problem-solving and creativity. He was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan and spent many afternoons cheering for his team. Family vacations were often spent at the beach, where he cherished the simple pleasures of sun, sand, and quality time with loved ones.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Berneice Baucom. He is survived by his devoted wife, Teresa; his daughters, Tracy Kent (Matthew) and Katherine Belo (Duncan); his grandsons, Deklan and Blaine; his brother, Larry Baucom (Diane); his sisters, Deborah Baucom, Janet Barrett (Gary), and Patsy Pate (Jack); and a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
David Bruce Baucom leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and strength. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace, knowing that he made the world a better place through his unwavering love and dedication to his family and community.
A visitation for David will be held Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, North Carolina 28227, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. A committal service will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, North Carolina 28227.
