David Charles Helms

David (Charles) Helms 84 years old of Charlotte, North Carolina entered the heavenly gates on September 14, 2024.
He was born January 8, 1940 to David and Mary Helms. David was the most loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather that anyone could ever ask for. David is survived by his son Charles Ray (Darlene) Helms of Concord, North Carolina Daughters; Sheila Taylor of Charlotte, North Carolina Teresa (Gary) McCorkle of Charlotte, North Carolina. Sisters; Pat Robinson of Matthews, North Carolina, and Debbie Redman.
David had an abundance of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and made wonderful memories with each of them. David is proceeded in death by Faye Helms and Marcell Helms. His father David Helms and his mother Mary Helms , brother Larry Helms and sister Faye Barfield.
David was a proud employee of Carolinas Medical Center, where he was a dedicated employee for 12 years before his retirement. David was a man of true integrity and a man of simple taste of blue jeans, a T-shirt, classic music, puzzle books and watching WWE wrestling. He always focused on providing his children with the best life possible without worrying about himself and set by example great work ethics by never missing more than 3 days of work his entire life. David was truly a great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family that loves him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing will leave an absence in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever engraved in all that he knew. We say a special thank you to Jennifer Vermillion Bolton. David’s granddaughter who has so sweetly and lovingly taken amazing care of him this past year. Thank you for making his last year as comfortable and happy as he could be. You always put a smile on his face.
A funeral service to celebrate David's life will be held at Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home Chapel, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 1pm with a visitation starting at 12pm. Burial will then follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Charlotte.
