David Duane Lantz

David Duane Lantz, 58, of Fruitland, died Sunday, May 26, 2024 at the Manokin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born November 19, 1965 in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Roscoe L. Lantz and Mary Christine (Riley) Lantz.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Stephen L. Lantz.

David was a graduate of Fort Hill High School. He also obtained three degrees in laboratory technology and was very knowledgeable in this area. He was also very skilled in computer technology.

He worked at the Petersburg Hospital in Petersburg, WV.

Dave was a home body. He, with his sister and caregivers, lovingly cared for their mom at home during her 5-year battle with Alzheimer’s. Dave’s major interests were his family, his dog Bella, music, his huge collection of DVD’s, and video gaming. He was also an accomplished cook and enjoyed it along with grilling and having family in for some of his smoked entrees. Dave was diagnosed with diabetes at 4 years old and fought that, as well as rheumatoid arthritis his whole life. He never let his health issues hold him back. He was blessed with his close friends and neighbors, Ray Ann, Debbie, and Jessie Rice and his close and lifelong friend, Holli Brode. He will greatly and forever be missed.

Survivors include his sister, Linda C. (Lantz) Jackson; and nephews, Matthew Cornwell and family, Andrew Cornwell and family, Brandon Walker and family, and Dylan Lantz and family.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, on Monday, June 3, 2024 from noon-1:00 PM.

A memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM, with Pastors Lisa and Allen Fields officiating.

Private inurnment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
