FORT MILL, SC – David Wayne Pressley, age 68, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 4, 2025, with his beloved by his side. Born on July 19, 1956, in Fort Mill, South Carolina, to Bill Pressley and Johnnie Mae Atkins. David lived a life marked by dedication and unwavering character.
David dedicated over 34 years to JR Cole Industries. He humbly rose through the ranks to serve as General Manager under Mr. Bob Cole. He was known for his remarkable work ethic, sharp insight, and visionary leadership which earned him the nickname “Backbone”. He approached every task with integrity and a commitment to excellence that left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.
David was always willing to lend a helping hand—whether repairing small engines, offering advice, or simply being there when someone needed him most. His broad knowledge and resourcefulness made him a trusted source of support in countless situations.
David was a devoted, faithful, and loyal man to those he shared his life with. He had a deep love for the beach and making memories, which brought him great joy. He also found fulfillment in gardening, especially when tending to tomatoes and hot peppers—a true testament to his green thumb.
David was a member Canaan Land Ministries Church. David lived a simple life. His legacy of strength and devotion will live on in the hearts of those he loved.
David is survived by his beloved, Melody Penegar; his son, Chad Wayne Pressley (Rebekah); his daughter, Christina Penegar-Tucker (Mick); grandchildren, Alexander Wayne Pressley, Jaxson Tucker, Asher Tucker, and Arabella Tucker; two brothers, Billy Pressley, and Barry “Gunk” Philbeck (Lynn); three sisters, Angel Pressley Wiseman (Ronnie), Mary Pressley Wright (Mike), and Samantha Philbeck Yarborough; his aunt, Becky Atkins Brown; and his best friend, Slick.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 12, 2025, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Howard Penegar. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill, SC.
