Diane L. (Queer) Bates, 78, of Ruffsdale, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Excela Westmoreland Hopital in Greensburg, PA. She was born December 25, 1942 in Mt. Pleasant, PA. Daughter of the late Charles E. and Frances Kapalka-Queer, and step-mother Helen G. Queer. Diane was a graduate of Hempfield High School Class of 1960. She worked for and retired from Sears where she did teletype for catalog orders and then in the office handling secretarial/clerical work for over 35 years. Diane was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Youngwood, PA for over 20 years; where she served in the church choir, the Bell Choir, Bible School, KForce in addition to donating many hours of her time making fleece blankets that were donated to dialysis patients and animal rescues. Diane loved children and worked as the clown for Sears every year during their Summer Tractor Sale where she would interact with kids handing out balloons. Diane was a very loving woman who cared about people and loved to spend time with her family. Diane loved butterflies, flowers, watching the Steelers football games and listening to country and gospel music. She is preceded in death by both parents, loving husband – Edward G. Bates and step-mother – Helen G. Queer. She is survived by one daughter – Stacy L. Bates and fiancé Michele Kubicki of Latrobe, PA, one brother – Thomas E. Scott and wife Deborah of Greensburg, PA and one nephew – Jeremy Scott. Friends will be received on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 2 - 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Green officiating. Interment will follow at the Westmoreland Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensburg, PA. Masks are highly recommended to be worn while in the funeral home.
