Diane Fridley

Diane Wilson Fridley, 87, of Short Gap, died Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born June 5, 1935 in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late John “Scotty” Wilson and Mabel F. (VanSant) Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her husband Carl Richard “Dick” Fridley; her son, Stephen Douglas Fridley; and, her sister June Wilson.

Diane was a 1953 graduate of Allegany High School.

Diane was retired from Hill’s Department Store.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Fort Ashby, and the Ladies of the Moose, Chapter #914, Cumberland.

Surviving are her two sons, David Fridley and partner Cindy Sawyers, and Gary Fridley and wife Rhonda, all from Fort Ashby; her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Fridley Sidaway and husband Larry, Oakland, MD; grandchildren, Shane Fridley and wife Melissa, Fort Ashby, Matthew Fridley and wife Jill, New Market, MD, Brooke Albin, Charleston, WV, Stephanie Fridley and partner Clinton, Springfield, WV, Scott Fridley and wife Kelli, Ridgeley, Daniel Fridley and wife Lauren, Cameron, NC, and Holly Fridley, Marshall, VA; and, 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, John Wilson, Millersville, MD; her sister, Barbara Davis, husband Glynn and daughter Sandy; and, a special friend, Bill Avey.

Diane enjoyed family gatherings and youth sports as her family grew up, along with pool parties in her backyard during the summers. She also enjoyed helping at the Moose, her high school class reunions, Hill’s dinners, going out with friends, and listening to music. She was loved and will be missed by her family and friends.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, on Saturday from 11 AM until 1 PM. The funeral service will follow at 1 PM, with Pastor David Duckworth, officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
