Dolores Hood Childers

Dolores Hood Childers, age 88, of Mint Hill, North Carolina passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025.
She was born on August 4, 1936 in Mecklenburg County. She was the daughter of the late Burt Hood and Mae Ross Hood.
Dolores grew up in Mint Hill, North Carolina and was a lifetime member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in Mint Hill. She was a 1955 graduate of East Mecklenburg High School. After graduation, she was employed with American Discount and later Liberty Mutual Insurance Company until her retirement in 1984.
She married Harold E. Childers in 1958 at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church. They were married for 53 years until his death in 2011. They enjoyed traveling and had many adventures and stories to tell.
Dolores was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She saw life as always fun and ready to enjoy.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin (Amy) Childers and Chris Childers; niece, Nevelyn (Michael) Thrasher; grandchildren, Amanda (Andrew) Innerfield, Evan and Aaron Childers; and great grandchildren, Jameson and Talia Innerfield.

A funeral service for Dolores will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Charlotte, NC 28227. Dolores will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd, Mint Hill, NC.
