Donald Clay Helton

Donald Clay Helton, 68, of Charlotte, NC passed on Sunday, July 18, 2021. Services for Mr. Helton will start on Sunday, July 25, 2021, with a public viewing from noon until 3pm at Long and Son Mortuary, 2132 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte. The Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Helton is scheduled on Monday, July 26, 2021, at 10am at Parkwood Institutional C.M.E. Church, 802 Tom Hunter Road, Charlotte, NC 28213. Due to current COVID protocols and taking everyone’s health and safety into consideration first, the homegoing service is as a ‘closed service’ to immediate family and close friends. To ensure social distancing and adhere to the occupancy restrictions of in-person attendees, individuals are strongly encouraged to pay their respects during the visitation scheduled on Sunday, July 25th, 2021.

Note: COVID Protocol requires the wearing of masks during the visitation at Long and Son Mortuary and during the service at Parkwood C.M.E. Church.

Individuals will have an opportunity to view the Homegoing Celebration via a ‘live streaming platform’ which will be provided on the Parkwood’s website by notating “click here to view Donald Clay Helton’s Homegoing Celebration.”

Donald was passionate in giving which inspired him to join Black Men with a Purpose, Inc., a non-profit organization where he interacted with other positive black men who shared the same vision of giving and serving. One of BMP pillar’s included fund raising to specifically fund scholarships for minority students to attend college. To honor Donald’s legacy, in lieu of flowers, his family ask that you would consider making a tax-deductible donation to “Black Men With A Purpose Inc.” specifically for the scholarship fund.
