Donald E. Homa

September 23, 1937 – March 11, 2026 (Age 88)

A mourning dove sat on the ledge of the window seal and looked through the window. Donald “Mo” Homa, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family under the watchful eye of the mourning dove on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

Donald was born in McKeesport on September 23, 1937, a son of the late Andrew and Susan (Tokar) Homa. He graduated from Donora High School in 1957. He worked for many years at the Donora A & P and Combustion Engineering. Later, he worked for the Ringgold School District as a bus driver until his retirement.

He loved listening and dancing to music, specifically “the oldies”. He could name the title, artist, record label, and running time of every song. He was the life of the party and always had a joke to tell. Mo enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his family.

He loved camping and driving his motor home all over the country, especially to the beach. Mo and Darlene divided their time between their home in Donora and condo in St. Pete Beach, Along with his wife, he loved traveling to almost every state in the continental U.S and Hawaii. They also loved taking cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, Mexico, Mediterranean, and a Rhine River Adventure with his best friend, Jimmy Goetz and his wife Carol. His greatest joy was watching his grandchildren play in all of their sports and musical activities.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Darlene (Fronzaglio) Homa, his greatest dance partner, with whom he would have celebrated 63 years of marriage with on June 22; a son, Dwayne (Jane) Homa of Monongahela, a daughter, Daria (Brian) of Donora, grandchildren, Kaylin, Hunter (Jenn), Weston, Ryland, and Dominica; a special cousin, Monica Nalevanko; a brother in-law, Dominick Bisceglia; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Bisceglia.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Jose Venero, Dr. Umberto DeRienzo, Dr. Vincent Ripepi, the OSPTA Hospice team especially, Katlyn, Catlyn, and Winter, who would light up his eyes.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Carroll Township/Donora, PA 15033, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Monday, March 16, 2026 at 9:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Donora site, with the Rev. Fr. Patrick Barkey officiating. Entombment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
