Donald Wayne Elwood, 75, of Charlotte, joined his Lord and Savior for his first Christmas in Heaven on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024.
“Papa Don” was an outgoing person who loved to make everyone laugh. He would also go out of his way to do anything for anyone. Don was a wonderful husband, father, PawPaw and friend.
Don is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Adina DiMarzio (husband Donnie Pitchford) and Carol Dysart; a son, Michael DiMarzio; grandsons Danny Fannon and Blake Pitchford; and his brothers Gene and Harold Elwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Thelma Elwood; 3 sisters and a grandson, Scott Alexander Fannon.
Don’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for him and for them. A service honoring Don’s life will be held on Saturday, January 4, at noon in the funeral home chapel, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until the time of service. Don will be entombed at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.
