Doris J. Jasper

Doris J. Jasper, 91, of Irwin, died Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Westmoreland Hospital.
She was born December 10, 1934, in Downers Grove, Illinois, a daughter of the late Herbert W. Graybrook and Emma Scheckhaus Graybrook.
Doris graduated from North Huntingdon High School, Class of 1952. She loved the company of children and proudly began a Pre-School Program at the First United Church of Christ, which she oversaw for 18 years. Doris was a very active member of her church’s congregation serving as a Deacon and an Elder. Doris continued to teach Sunday School faithfully until her passing. Doris supported her late husband in leading a Rainbow Girl’s drill team (Lee’s Patriots), for 8 years. She traveled with the team regularly and assisted in fundraising and hand making the team members’ uniforms. Doris was a gifted painter, meeting with friends weekly to paint and socialize. She was also a skilled seamstress, making all of her grandchildren’s Halloween costumes for many years, as well as altering prom dresses, and even making her own wedding dress. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Lee Jasper; her daughter, Jody Brunecz; son, Roger Jasper; and sons-in-law Sam Bigelow and Steve Brunecz.
She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Bigelow; son, Jerry Jasper; grandchildren, Bree Bigelow, Lee (Derek) Behrens, and Hunter (Jess) Brunecz, as well as her great-grandson, Jackson Behrens.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main St., Irwin, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 12. Private interment will be in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
