Doris Kathryn (Sipes) Konzal

LaVale, MD – Doris Kathryn (Sipes) Konzal, 95, of LaVale, MD, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Cumberland Healthcare Center.
Born November 10, 1925, in Little Orleans, MD, Mrs. Konzal was the daughter of the late Eugene Perry Sipes and Edna Mary (Winfield) Sipes. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Robert "Joe" Konzal, 2004; a brother: Allen Sipes; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A graduate of Flintstone High School, Class of 1942, Doris attended Allegany Community college and was an active member of the LaVale United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday school for more than 50 years and served on several committees including the Sunshine committee, the Prayer Chain, and served on the Board of Trustees. She served communion to the shut-ins and was active with Vacation Bible School and a member of the United Methodist Women's. Doris collected and trimmed stamps for scholarships and donated to the Wounded Warriors Project. She was active in the Girl Scouts where she served as Leader of the Shawnee Girl Scouts Area 2+4. She also served as neighborhood chairman and day camp director. Doris was a former employee of the Celanese Fibers Corporation of America during the war then worked for W.T. Grants for a few years.
Doris is survived by her daughter: Karen Grove and husband, Joseph; her grandchildren: Miranda Morrison and husband, Scott; and Joseph A. Grove, Jr., and wife, Mandie; and her great grandsons: Owen and Connor Humphries; and Lucas and Levi Grove.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
A funeral service will be conducted at the LaVale United Methodist Church, on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Frankie Revell officiating. Friends will also be received at the church one hour prior.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
