Doris Swinehart
December 5, 1929 - June 24, 2024 (Age 94)
Doris M. Swinehart, 94, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy, PA. Born in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late May Myers Schlotzhauer and George W. Schlotzhauer.
She worked in the bridal industry making custom wedding dresses and bridesmaids’ dresses. Doris was an active member of the Lancaster Liederkrantz, the Dutchland Polkateers and a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Lancaster. Throughout her life, she enjoyed singing with local churches and chorus’.
Doris is survived by her three children, Scot, (Sheila M.) Swinehart, Lisa, (Joseph) Woliver, and Karen, (Harold) Shissler, her 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; her brother, George (Bonnie) Schlotzhauer; and her two sisters, Janet Cunningham, and Margaret Espenshade.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years of marriage to Clarence R. Swinehart; her two sons, Bruce Edward Swinehart, Jeff Robert Swinehart, her brother, Paul Schlotzhauer, and sister, Elizabeth Aument.
A Funeral Service will be held at Faith United Church of Christ, 1204 Wabank Road, Lancaster, PA 17603 on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Rieker officiating. Private family interment will be held at Conestoga Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Faith United Church of Christ at 10:00 a.m. for the viewing hour.
