Dorothea Momyer
August 20, 1929 - November 29, 2022 (Age 93)
Dorothea "Dot" Betty Momyer, age 93, of Winter Haven, Florida, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania passed away early Tuesday morning, November 29, 2022 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Florida. Dot was born on August 20, 1929 in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Zachary T. and Edna F. Williams. Dot retired from the Polk County School System, where she enjoyed serving meals to the children at Garner Elementary. She moved briefly back to Pennsylvania later in retirement, but returned to Florida 13 years ago. She became an active member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Winter Haven, and was a dedicated volunteer with Meals on Wheels of Polk County, receiving recognition as Volunteer of the Year in 2012. Dot had a lifelong love of music, and was a talented vocalist who was a valued member of her church choirs. She was an avid walker throughout her life, and enjoyed cheering on her favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. But the thing she treasured most was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dot was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband of 54 years, David L. Momyer, her second husband of four years, Terriel K Sublett, and her brother, Bill Williams. Dot's memories will be forever cherished by her children: Larry D. Momyer and wife, Judy Melillo of Tallahassee, Florida, Donna M. Bridgland and husband Mike of Millersville, Maryland; her five grandchildren: Jennifer Bilbrey, Ryan Bridgland, Paul Bridgland, Lindsay Doctor and Nicole Bridgland; and her four great-grandchildren: Joseph Bilbrey, Jeremiah Bilbrey, Anthony Doctor and Mark Bridgland. The family suggests memorials in memory of Dorothea be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, Auburndale, Florida.
