September 18, 1932 - October 30, 2022 (Age 90)

Dorothy J. (Compton) Anderson, 90, of Arona, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Paramount Senior Living in Canonsburg, PA. She was born September 18, 1932 in Jeannette, PA. Daughter of the late Walter and Edna (Lander) Compton. She was a graduate of Jeannette High School Class of 1950; and was very proud of her accomplishment. During her younger years, she ran a gas station and grocery store with her husband in Arona, PA for over 15 years. Dorothy was a long-time member of the former Arona Women’s Club. She loved playing cards with her close-knit group of friends. She was also a member of the West Hempfield Presbyterian Seniors. In her younger years, she enjoyed taking a walk with her close friends from Arona to Madison; meeting up at Miller’s Inn for a snack. Dorothy enjoyed every minute with her grandchildren. They were her world! She enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to Florida and Hawaii. She enjoyed going for long car rides to see the fall leaves, celebrating the holidays, watching football and baseball on television and doing the chicken dance at weddings. Dorothy was a wonderful baker and cook; known by her family for her apple dumplings, pies and stuffed pork chops that were delicious! She is preceded in death by both parents, loving husband of 63 years, Kenneth E. Anderson; daughter, Vicki Anderson and sister Janet Maloberti. She is survived by two sons, Daniel Anderson (Carol) of McMurray, PA and Terry Anderson (Paula) of Arona, PA; four grandchildren, Craig Anderson (Kristin) of McMurray, PA, Christine Mal (Jeff) of Pittsburgh, PA, Randy Rothwell (Brittany) of West Newton, PA and Kenneth “Kenny” Anderson and four great grandchildren, Cole, Olivia, Levi and Madelynn. Friends will be received from 2 - 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Anthony officiating. Interment will follow at the Westmoreland Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensburg, PA. The family would like to thank Paramount Hospice for the loving and compassionate care provided to their mother.
