Dorothy C. Detar

Dorothy C. Detar, 94, of Southwest Greensburg, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022, after a brief illness surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Greensburg, daughter of James F. and Pauline (Ramage Stockdale) Jerson. Prior to retirement, she had been employed by Westmoreland Dermatology, Greensburg. She was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, South Greensburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" Detar; her children, John Detar Jr., Darrell Detar, Leslie Detar Cope and Ellen F. Detar Hart; three sons-in-law, Dr. John Cope, Earl Keim II and Mike Felice; and her sister, Maryellen Lambert. She is survived by her daughters, Gretchen Detar Keim and Melissa Detar Roberts Felice; seven grandchildren, Bridget, Heather, Alecia, Ben, Kelly, Lindsey and Billy; nine great-grandchildren; her brother, Donald Jerson; and several nieces and nephews. A private visitation and liturgy service were held at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton St., Greensburg, with Deacon John Zombar as celebrant. Private entombment followed in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
