Dorothy E. Merritts

Dorothy E. Merritts, 86, went to live in the presence of her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on January 30, 2023 at The Laurels of Pender.
Dorothy was born in Bedford Township, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, April, 16, 1936, the daughter of the late Chalmer and Evelyn (Hixon) Calhoun.
On August 14, 1951, she married James K. Kegg of Manns Choice, Pennsylvania. He preceded her in death in June, 2003.
She is survived by sons, Barry K. Kegg of Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, life partner of Judy Fisher, daughter Joy L. McLawhorn of Rocky Point, North Carolina, wife of Clifton and Michael P. Kegg of Manns Choice, Pennsylvania, husband of Ellen (Mock). Also surviving are sister Mabel Ritchey of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, Skyles Calhoun of Bedford, Pennsylvania and sister Treva May of Bedford, wife of Woodrow.Dorothy’s life was blessed with seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, James R. Kegg of Bedford, Pennsylvania, sister Ethel Johnson of Bedford, Pennsylvania, and brother James Calhoun of New Paris, Pennsylvania.
Dorothy was an honest, dedicated and hard working woman all her life. She held several managerial positions, mostly in the convenience store industry. She loved watching the home shopping networks for what she considered “bargains” and was then often generous in giving her “bargains” away to a friend or relative.
She had a sincere love for her Lord and family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be sorely missed.
A private memorial for family will be held at a later date.
