Dorothy L. Sletzer
September 23, 1941 - January 19, 2022 (Age 80)
Dorothy L. Sletzer (Kernan), 80, Charlotte, NC, formerly of Zanesville, received her wings last evening January 19th, 2022 surrounded by her family.
She was born September 23rd, 1941 in Zanesville to the late John and Ada (Sisk) Kernan. Dorothy was a homemaker, a loving Mom, and a Grandma with a beautiful smile that truly loved spending time at the Genealogy Dept. at John McIntire Public Library and traveling with her late husband, George. She never met a stranger and would talk to anyone to find out their family history to see if she found a long lost relative. Dorothy & George had attended the Cornerstone Full Gospel Church in Duncan Falls.
She is survived by sons and daughter-in laws, John & Rhonda Sletzer of Rock Hill SC, Jeff & Linda Sletzer and daughter and son in-law, Tina and Randy Nelson, and sister, Joe Ann Moore and sister-in-law, Martha (Sletzer) Ball of Zanesville, 11 grandchildren, Brandon Sletzer (Texas), Jennifer, spouse Gene Hindel of Zanesville, Danielle, spouse Dan Miller (Monroe NC), Amanda, spouse Michael Taylor (Lancaster SC), Chase, spouse Paige Sletzer (Gastonia NC), Thomas Nelson of Zanesville, April, spouse David Brewer (Indian Land SC), Tyler, spouse Nicole Sletzer of Zanesville, Kyle Sletzer of Zanesville, Clay Sletzer (Rock Hill SC), and Lani Sletzer (Charlotte NC), 17 great-grandchildren, and several special nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is preceded by death her loving husband George, daughter Teresa Church, sisters Anne McDaniels, Linda Stefanitsis and Donna McCormick, in-laws, Henry J & Florence (James) Sletzer and brother-in-law, Ralph Sletzer.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday January 27, 2022 from 2:00PM-4:00 PM and 6:00PM- 8:00 PM. Services will be held on Friday January 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Steve Smith officiating. Burial will follow services at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
