Dorothy Louise Phillips

August 22, 1937 - May 22, 2025 (Age 87)

Dorothy Lousie Phillips, went to be with our heavenly father forever on May 22, 2025.

Daughter of Tom and Mary Jane Payne of Jolo, West Virginia born August 22, 1937.

Dorothy was proceeded by late husband Jim Duty. son Darrell L. Duty, stepdaughter Karen Johnson.

Her surviving family daughter Christi Duty (Nolan) now Kynnersley (Jeff), Kim Duty,

Dorothy is also survived by her husband David A Phillips of fourteen years upon her time of passing as well as David’s family. David’s son David Andrew Phillips, two daughters Karen L. Starns (madden Phillips) and Staci D Davis (madden Phillips).

Dorothy had 9 Grandchildren: Ryan & Brittney Duty, Jason Duty, Josh Duty, Amanda Rodriguez (now with Eric Rodriguez), Laurel Duty, Navarre Nolan, Sara Mcquire, Emily Johnson, and Kaeli Rollins.

Dorothy also was graced with 13 great, great grandchildren, Jacob, Mathew, Ethan, Liddia, Wren, Magdalene, Mathew R, Eva, Brooklyn, Aiden, Bridgid, Pierson & Payton.

Dorothy worked half a century in men’s and women’s fashion. She worked in sales and became a well-sought as alterations professional. Working in many local clothing stores such as Roberts Men’s, Larry Wades, Emerson, Elder Beermans, and at home.

Dorothy enjoyed her family time with her children and grandchildren and her husband Dave.

She was close to Betty West for many years, Burkhardt’s, Lisa, Harold, Corrie, Chris and she treated them like family. She was a member of the Coburn United Methodist Church, she attended several church functions such as Advent Tea, Mother’s Daughter Day events and various other activities.

Dorothy was in the Rambling Roses ladies’ group. They traveled together on shopping trips. Tours and dinner. She played cards in a card club and attended a dinner club with great friends.

Dorothy married David Phillips fourteen year ago and they enjoyed their time together by traveling around the United States to several National Parks. They went on cruise ships, toured Italy and made the Best of Each Day.

Dorothy touched many lives with her kindness & laughter. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Calling hours will be held from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. The funeral service will begin at 1pm Wednesday, June 4, at Coburn United Methodist Church, 3618 Maple Avenue, Zanesville, with Pastor Mark Raaker officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park.
