Dorothy Mosier
November 15, 1945 - December 12, 2025 (Age 80)
Dorothy “Kap” Kathleen Mosier, 80, of Ridgeley, WV passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 12, 2025 at UPMC Western Maryland.
Kap was born in Washington, DC on November 15, 1945 to the late Cecile and Madeline Mosier. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Dean Mosier, Doris Ann Dorsey, Daryl Gene Mosier, and Deborah Lynn Mosier.
She loved her long career as a nursing aide at the Lions Rehab Center in Cumberland, MD, and really enjoyed taking care of the residents there.
Kap was a dedicated and loving homemaker for her family. She really enjoyed her crafts and hobbies baking, crochet which she made clothes for dolls, and singing along to country music especially with Dolly Parton. She loved horses, and owned several over her life.
She is survived by her children, Theresa Phipps and companion W. Barry Shenk, Anna Swick and husband James, Paul Sites III and fiancé Beth Evans; siblings, Michael Dennis Mosier and Terry Lee Mosier; very many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and her large extended family including many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A viewing will be held Monday, December 15th from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland. Following cremation she will be inurned at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, MD.
Her children would like to expresses the sincere gratitude for everyone that cared for their mother at UPMC Western Maryland for her entire time there from the emergency department, to the ICU, and comfort care.
