Dorothy Phifer

Dorothy “Dot” Bowers Phifer, 90, of Mint Hill, NC, died peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at The Little Flower.

Dot was born in Peachland, NC on January 21, 1932, the daughter of Jesse and Jessie Bowers. She grew up in the country and after attending Peachland High School, she married the love of her life Harold Phifer on January 29, 1950. They had an incredible life together until Harold passed away on May 10, 2018.

They moved to Charlotte where she worked for Swift and Company for many years. She also worked for Harris Teeter before going to work at Matthews Elementary School Cafeteria. She loved working and seeing the children everyday. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as her many long-time friends. She also loved working in the yard. She was a faithful member of Wilson Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed spending many mornings socializing with friends at Bojangles in Mint Hill.

Dot is survived by her children JoAnn (David) Phelps, Ricky Phifer (Tangela) and Lisa (Richard) Stanley, four grandchildren, and eight great grand children. Dot is further survived by one brother Lewis Bowers. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her loving husband, four brothers, and one sister.

The family would like to send a special thanks to staff members of The Little Flower who loved her and made her time there so special and for the care they gave her, and the many new friends there who loved her. She loved each and everyone of you.

Dot's family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. Visitation will take place from 1 pm until the time of service. Following the service, Dot will be taken in formal procession to her final place of rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte.
