Rock Hill, SC – Dottie R. Carter, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

Born in Rock Hill, South Carolina on January 1, 1940, Dottie was the daughter of the late Raymond L. Rockholt and the late Hattie L. Brigman. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Densie McCammon and Rachel Watson and her brother John Rockholt.

For many years, Dottie was a local real estate agent helping many of her friends and family know the joy of home ownership. Dottie attended Harvest Ministries Church where she and her husband were faithful members for many years. Dottie was a talented singer who sang in church her entire life and was known to everyone as a woman of tremendous faith who loved the Lord Jesus Christ.

Dottie is survived by her devoted husband of almost 40 years, Clayton “Buddy” Horne; her son Tim Carter of Rock Hill; her adopted son Clint Williams of the home; and her daughter Kay Carter of Rock Hill. Also very important in Dottie’s life was her best friend Lea-Ann Bowers and her husband Randy and friend and neighbor Bill Cole. Dottie also loved her adopted grandchildren, Brandy, Kayla and Matthew as if they were her own.

The family would like to send our deepest appreciation to the Levine Cancer Center and Dr. Nilay Shah and his staff who all took wonderful care of our Dottie. In addition special thanks to all the caring staff at White Oak Manor Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility for their kindness and help through these last several months. We will never forget your compassion and kindness.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Greene Funeral Home on Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill, SC. The visitation is from 12:00 – 1:00 followed by the service at 1:00.
