Dwana M. Guntrum

September 30, 1934 - April 24, 2025 (Age 90)

Dwana McCarty Guntrum, a selfless light of love, passed away peacefully on 4/24/2025 at the age of 90.

She was born in Beallsville on September 30, 1934, to Willis McCarty and Evelyn Barnes McCarty. As a teenager she was Beallsville’s Centennial Queen. After attending a year of college at Waynesburg College she married and started her family as a sailor’s wife in San Diego, California. She eventually settled down in Bentleyville where she would live for over fifty years enjoying planting flowers, decorating her home and caring for her family. Dwana worked at K-Mart in Washington and then at Alberts Meat Packing before finding a job at the Washington Hospital that she loved and worked until she retired.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Beallsville as a youth and later transferred her membership to the Bentleyville Presbyterian Church. Several years later she attended and transferred her membership to the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Bentleyville.

Dwana is survived by her three children Willis Guntrum (wife Barbara) of Monaca, Denise Yurkovich (husband Rudy) of Ellsworth, and Dwana Guntrum of Georgia. She has one living sibling, Willis G. McCarty, of Colorado. In addition, she has five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Two siblings, Billie Verdamae McCarty and Lecil McCarty preceded her in death.
