Edison C. Weatherly Jr.
January 11, 1948 - June 15, 2025 (Age 77)
Edison Carlyle Weatherly Jr., 77, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025. Born in Albany, Georgia, on January 11, 1948, he is the son of the late Colonel Edison Carlyle Weatherly Sr. and Virginia Owens. Edison made Charlotte his lifelong home after graduating from East Mecklenburg High School and attending the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. It was there he met the love of his life, Vicky Query, with whom he shared 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Edison was a man of kindness, compassion, and generosity. His door was always open to anyone in need, and his heart was even more welcoming. A lover of music and art, Edison found joy in the beauty of creativity and expression. He was a devoted husband and a beloved uncle, whose playful spirit and fun-loving nature made him a favorite among his great-niece and great-nephews.
He had a deep affection for his four dogs, a passion for collecting and selling antiques, and a fondness for classic films. Edison’s life was rich with simple pleasures and meaningful connections.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vicky Query Weatherly; his niece and nephews, Courtney Dagenhart Hucks (Justin) and Shane Patrick Dagenhart (Brittany) and his cherished great-niece and great-nephews: Noah, Vivian Grant, Thatcher, Julian, Roman, Truett Hucks, and Sullivan and Tucker Dagenhart. He is also survived by his dear friend, Brandie MacDonald.
Edison was preceded in death by his treasured friends Gail and Guy Maynard, his beloved mother-in-law Catherine Wright Query, and his sister-in-law Susan Query Dagenhart.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Atrium Cancer Center, causes close to Edison’s heart.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
A visitation for Edison will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 10 to 10:45 AM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Charlotte, NC 28227. Burial to follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd. Mint Hill, NC 28227.
