Edward L. Burden
July 12, 1944 - August 7, 2025 (Age 81)
Edward Lewis Burden, age 81, passed away on August 7, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones.
Edward was born on July 12, 1944, to Clarence and Doris Burden. He was born and raised in Lithopolis, Ohio and graduated from Bloom Carroll High School in 1962. He went on to serve in the army where he found a passion for cooking, he was also an EMT in the Bloom Township Fire Department while also being a truck driver. Eventually he met and married the love of his life, Betty Sartin and went on to have three wonderful children, Debbie, Matthew, and Joshua Burden.
He will be remembered for being a loving husband, a devoted father, and a caring Papaw to a wonderful grandson, Noah. He was known for his humor and one liners, as all great fathers have, like: "don't get lost on the freeway", fine as frog hair and half twice as thin", "That's a spicy meatball", and his impeccable Donald Duck impressions. He loved his westerns and James Bond films, his shows/movies of slapstick comedy, and going to parades with his son on the holidays. Edward also enjoyed sports like wrestling with his two sons back in the day, baseball and the occasional football game... O H! As a father he always managed to be there for his children in all sport activities whether it be cheerleading, soccer practice/games, marching band, or a medic on the sidelines to support us. Edward was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Lithopolis, Ohio where he had an active role in their choir, and could always be found and relied upon to sing his favorite hymnals. His passion for the Lord did not stop there as he went on to be a member of the Church of Christ and Christian Union in Groveport, Ohio where he also a member of the choir and made long term friends.
Edward is survived by daughter Debbie Kempton (Robert); sons Matthew Burden (Cathy) and Joshua Burden (Kristin); and grandson Noah Kempton, as well as many extended family members and friends who loved him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Burden; his sisters Audrey Williams and Sadie Palsgrove; and his parents, Clarence and Doris Burden.
