Elaine R. Zurick

Elaine R. Zurick, 76, of Greensburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital.

Born October 7, 1946 in Mount Pleasant, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Samuel Garstecki and Rev. Loretta (Withrow) Garstecki.

Elaine was a member of St. Paul Parish in Greensburg. She had been employed at Sterling Optical for 28 years before retirement. She loved golfing with her sisters every weekend and enjoyed playing many rounds with her husband as well. Elaine enjoyed traveling to Ocean City, MD with her husband, and yearly Memorial Day trips to Idlewild with her granddaughter, who she loved to spend time with. She will be missed by her beloved dog, Rocky.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard F. Zurick on May 17, 2023, a brother, William Garstecki, and a sister, Rhoda Baldwin.

Elaine is survived by two daughters, Kimberly A. Zurick and Jennifer L. Zurick, both of Greensburg, a granddaughter, Lauren E. Rehak; four brothers, Stanford (Mary Ann) Garstecki, Philip (Rosalie) Garstecki, Paul Garstecki, and Rev. Daniel (Kim) Garstecki; seven sisters, Sally Broush, Pamela (Glen) Bush, Rev. Cheryl Barron, Joyce Garstecki, Elizabeth Garstecki, Naomi (Brian) Shumar, and Ruth (Paul) Bayura, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Lopatich-Brinker Funeral Home, LLC, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. A funeral liturgy will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, O.S.B., officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Pittsburgh Chapter, 2835 E. Carson Street, Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.
