Elizabeth Ann Walsh
February 12, 1957 - February 27, 2025 (Age 68)
Elizabeth “Beth” Ann Walsh, 68,of LaVale, passed away peacefully at home on February 27, 2025, surrounded by her beloved husband and dear friends, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born February 12, 1957, in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Margaret “Peg” (Adams) Hickle.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Corbyn “Corky” W. Hickle.
Beth was a graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 1975. She served on both the reunion and scholarship committees, keeping classmates connected for over 25 years.
Beth was the first employee at Anderson’s Corner in Romney in 1981. She continued to spend many Saturdays at the shop—helping and sharing her love of jewelry. The Andersons were her second family.
Beth was the last original employee of the LaVale Applebee’s, since it opened 20 years ago. She was the hostess who greeted everyone with a smile and her kind, gracious manner. Some of her flowers always welcomed you as you walked into Applebee’s each spring and summer.
In her spare time, Beth enjoyed gardening and decorating, especially at Christmas when she would set up her many Christmas villages and decorations. She also enjoyed doing needlepoint like her mother had done. Beth and her lifelong friend, Karin, enjoyed displaying Karin’s crafts at various shows over the past 10 years. Those trips were always near and dear to Beth’s heart every summer. Beth enjoyed making people smile, it was second nature to her kind, loving, spirit. She was a kind soul that will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 11 years, Martin “Marty” J. Walsh; Patty Anderson, Roxanne Buckalew, Karin Burner, and Linda Uhl who were all like sisters to Beth; dear friends, Walter Ray Presley and wife, Carol Mason; and brother-in-law, Ronald Kuhns and wife Carol.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 5-7 PM. A time to share memories will follow at 7 PM.
There will be a private burial at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
