Ellen Bailey
April 23, 1921 - July 5, 2024 (Age 103)
Ellen M. (Yerger) Bailey, 103, of Pottstown, formerly of Royersford, passed away at her home on July 5, 2024. She was the wife of the late Henry W. Bailey Sr., with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.
Born in Royersford on April 23, 1921, Ellen was the daughter of the late George L. Yerger and Margaret E. (Umstead) Yerger.
Ellen worked for 16 years in the cafeteria at Pottstown Junior High School, retiring in 1972. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was an active member of the Boyertown Senior Center. In her free time, she enjoyed baking, crocheting, solving puzzles, reading, and playing cards with her friends and family members. Above all, Ellen cherished spending time with her family, creating a unique afghan for each of her grandchildren as a testament to her love and care.
She is survived by her daughter, Marie Adamski, wife of Edward, of Douglassville, PA; her sons, Henry Bailey Jr., husband of Carole, of Collegeville, PA, and George Bailey, husband of Cindy, of Reading, PA. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-granddaughters.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughters, Susan Nazaryk and Margaret “Peg” Reazor; her grandson, Matthew Bailey; and her brother, Donald Yerger.
A graveside service will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ellen’s memory to Caring Hospice, 400 Commerce Dr., Suite C, Fort Washington, PA 19034.
