Elsie Gantt Culliver
October 16, 1932 - July 15, 2021 (Age 88)
Elsie Gantt Culliver, 88, of Jeannette, affectionately known as “Mother” by her children, departed this life Thursday, July 15th 2021, at her home, surrounded by the presence of our Lord, her husband and daughters, along with her sister (Sissy) and her loving family. She was born October 16th 1932 in Wilmerding PA, a daughter of the late Peter J Davis Sr., and Elsie Nelson Davis.
Elsie was a housewife and stay at home mother who enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and taking care of her family. She also enjoyed an afternoon of the Local News and Soap Operas, but most importantly she enjoyed learning about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Elsie was a long-time member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, now known as Rock of Refuge Congregational Church of Jeannette PA.
Elsie was preceded in death by her first husband Lawrence Q. Gantt; four sisters, Rosella Winters, Ethel Davis, Mary Peaks, and Barbara Williamson; two brothers Peter J. Davis II and Willis E. Davis, and her five loving sons, Lawrence, Emmet, Darwin, Kenneth, and Marvin.
Elsie leaves behind her loving and devoted husband Lawrence W. Culliver; a sister Theresa Cantine, of Greensburg; seven priceless daughters, Josephine G. Culliver, Latrobe PA, Stephanie M. Gantt, Jeannette PA, Linda M. Horinek (Arthur), Lorain OH, Tonya Poole-Brundage (Darrell), Pittsburgh PA, Christine E. Harman (Mark), Stahlstown PA, Rachel R Gantt and Yvonne Y Gantt both of Jeannette PA.
Elsie leaves a legacy of twenty-six grandchildren, fifty-seven great grandchildren, seven great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Elsie’s primary caregiver was her loving husband, Lawrence W. Culliver, along with her devoted family. The family would like to extend a Special Thank You to Gaynel Brown with Women of Integrity, her (Caretaker), and the entire Heritage Hospice Team, especially Lauren and Nicole, who have helped care for her over the last year.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm in the John V. Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 228 North 2nd St. Jeannette. A funeral service will take place 11am Thursday in the Rock of Refuge Congregational Church, 102 Clay Ave. Jeannette with Pastor Roy Aiken officiating. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Interment will follow in the Jeannette Memorial Park, Penn Twp.
