Elvin Musselman

February 19, 1926 - March 8, 2024 (Age 98)

Elvin Musselman, 98, of Lititz, formerly of Strasburg, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Luther Acres. He was the son of the late Elias B. and Rhoda (Mentzer) Musselman.

A native and life-long resident of Lancaster County, Elvin was a 1944 graduate of New Holland High School. He enlisted in the Navy V5/V12 program, which assigned him to F&M College. He was later transferred to The University of Pennsylvania. In 1948, he graduated from Moore School of Electrical Engineering and was commissioned Ensign, USNR. He joined the RCA camera tube manufacturing group. Recalled to Navy duty as LTJG in 1951, he served as navigator and electronics officer aboard the USS Ross until 1953. Returning to RCA, he continued to work on the manufacture and development of cameras and other special-purpose tubes, for which he was awarded several patents, retiring in 1986.

He and his wife enjoyed several trips abroad to Europe and Japan, also attending 20 elder hostels. In retirement, he enjoyed art, design, drawing, sketching, woodworking, and reading (particularly science and technology).

A long-time, active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lancaster, he was elected to their vestry and served in Christian Education.

He and his wife moved to Luther Acres in 1998, where he became the first resident to serve on the Luthercare Board.

Elvin is survived by his daughter, Lynn Popp (wife of Edward) of Landsdale; grandchildren, Stephen and David Popp; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Andie, and Shane. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ann (Haagan) Musselman, and his son, Lee Musselman.

A celebration of life will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 27, 2024 in the Chapel at Luther Acres, 600 E Main St. Lititz, PA. There will be a visitation from 12:00 PM until the time of service.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Scholarship Fund, Trinity Lutheran Church, 31 S. Duke Street, Lancaster, PA 17602.
