Eugene E. Andiorio, 78, of Greensburg, died Sunday, July 30, 2023 in Independence Health Westmoreland Hospital. He was born September 16, 1944 in Greensburg, a son of the late Joseph L. Sr. and Pauline (Kwaczala) Andiorio. Gene was active US Navy and also Army Reserves. In the Navy he was 3rd class boatsmen's mate with two tours in Vietnam 1964-68 on the USS Cacapon Oiler and USS Alagash Oiler and USS Tanyer geographical survey ship. He was a sergeant in the Army Reserve and served with the 429th Engineer unit in Carbon. Prior to retirement in 2007 from Westmoreland Hospital he worked as a Supervisor in environmental services. He also worked as a machinist for over 20 years at ITE Greensburg and General Nuclear in Hunker. He was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, the Roosevelt Club of Hempfield Township and Hecla Sportsmens Club. Gene was an avid fisherman and hunter and made bracelets that he sold at the Greensburg Night Market. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph L. Andiorio, Jr., his sister, Rosemary DeCaro and sister-in-law, Rose Ann (Storkel) Andiorio. He is survived by his wife, Janice A. (Iezzi) Andiorio, 2 daughters, Gina M. Andiorio and Angela Andiorio (Nathan Gabor), 2 grandchildren, Surya and Satya Gabor, brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom DeCaro, Joanne Anderson, Paul Iezzi (Shirley), Peter Iezzi (Kim) and Andrew Iezzi (Loreen) and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Thursday in St. Bruno Church, everyone should go directly to the church. Military honors by VFW Post #33 honor guard and private interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Bruno Rosary Altar Society.
