Eugene Harold Thaden

Eugene "Gene" Harold Thaden, 89, of Indian Land, South Carolina passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. He was born on April 11, 1933 to Arthur and Hannah Thaden of Willow Lake, South Dakota.
Gene was a dedicated patriot, serving in the US Army for over 30 years. He retired in March 31, 1986 as a Command Sergeant Major. He earned many medals and honors during his military career, which included two tours in Vietnam.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, Gene Alan Thaden; his wife, Gerri Dennis Thaden; and his daughter, Jenny Thomas.
He is survived by his children, Donnis Badgett (Jack), Gene Brown (Sherryl), Patti Altom, Sherri Byrd, and Ed Reynolds (Jenna); and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other loving extended family members.
A Homegoing Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 20, 2023 at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC.
