Flora M. Williams
November 19, 1938 - June 1, 2022 (Age 83)
Flora May Williams 83, Of Charlotte went home to be with The Most High on June 1, 2022. Her passing was very peaceful as she slept in her home.
The family will receive friends at Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail Chapel on Friday, June 10th from 9am-10am. Mrs. Williams funeral ceremony will begin at 10am. Guests will meet at Sunset Memory Gardens (8901 Lawyers Rd, Charlotte NC 28227) at 12pm at for her graveside ceremony.
Flora was born November 19, 1938 in Woodland County, LA to the late John and Alice (Washington) Lonnon. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Harvey Williams, Jr.
Mrs. Williams left humble beginnings in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and moved to N.Y when she was a young woman. There she met, fell in love with and married Harvey Williams Jr. They had two sons while living in N.Y. When Harvey retired as a detective from the N.Y.P.D they relocated to Charlotte, NC.
Mrs. Williams has many accomplishments in her life. Including a BA in English Literature and MA in Creative writing from Queens College in Flushing, NY; served as Rabbi/Congregational Leader at Home of Prayer Congregation for 30+ years and served as a Chaplain at Mecklenburg County jails, She is remembered as a devout believer and teacher, an inspirational leader, very kind natured and generous. She will be fondly remembered and missed by many.
She is survived by her sons,
Steven Williams and Brian Williams and his wife Regina Killough-Williams along with their daughters Bethany (23) and Alicia (8) Williams.
