Florence Laffoon

Florence (Kunkle) Laffoon, 94, of Manor, died September 13, 2024, at home, surrounded by family. She was born May 14, 1930 in North Huntingdon, a daughter of the late Elton and Hazel (Singer) Kunkle. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 55 years, Louis M. Laffoon, a granddaughter Becca Laffoon and a brother Elton Kunkle. Florence graduated from North Huntingdon High School and from Seton Hill College with a bachelor’s degree in retailing. She loved raising her family on a small farm in Manor Borough. She enjoyed baking, travelling with her husband in the U.S. and Europe and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She always loved theatre and at one time worked as an usher and ticket taker at the former White Barn Theatre in North Huntingdon. She was a member of Level Green Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Bushy Run Lionesses Club and an active member of the senior organization Young at Heart. She is survived by her children Christopher P. Laffoon (Michelle) of Hillsborough, NJ, and Louis M. Laffoon Jr. (Karen), Irene S. Laffoon (Lisa) , and Elton B. Laffoon (Maureen) all of Irwin; her grandchildren Lauren Sletvold (Dan), Brianna Klingensmith (Brad), Christopher Laffoon (Michelle), Benjamin Laffoon (Jennifer), Louis M. Laffoon III, Brandon Laffoon (Deanna), Brett Laffoon (Maria), Cameron Laffoon, and Emanuel Serry; her great grandchildren Briggs, Connor, and Benjamin and two on the way; also nieces and nephews and her feline companion Bella. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main St., Irwin, where a funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Geoff Rach, officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
