Floyd Joshua Fike

Floyd Joshua Fike, 91, of Charlotte, NC passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
The son of the late Lawrence Reese Fike and Lena Margaret Moyers Fike, he was born January 30, 1933 in Hazleton, West Virginia, where he grew up on a farm with five brothers and sisters.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Irma Denny Fike; sons Larry Fike (Shannon)of Spartanburg, SC, David Fike (Lorraine) of Woodstock, MD, Dan Fike (Cindi) of Waxhaw, NC and daughter Debi Fike of Indian Trail, NC; grandchildren Bryan Thompson (Kim), Chad Thompson (Jasmin), Blaire Thompson, Kristen Johnson (Nathan), Joshua Fike (Evely), Deandra Fike, Graham Fike, Tommy Fike and Anna Fike; and great-grandchildren Grant, Caleb and Emma Thompson, Adaya, Kinsley, Knox and Landon Johnson, and Lily, Cal and Quinn Thompson. He is also survived by a brother Don Fike (Joyce) and sister Darlene Shaw.
Floyd was always a hard worker, with long hours on the job, never missing a day of work, and then always busy at home maintaining the house, cars and yard. He loved having a big vegetable garden. He could build and fix anything and often helped family, neighbors and church members with repairs and projects. Floyd was the heart of the family and was so proud of the family life that he and Irma nurtured. “Paw & Emmy” enjoyed retirement by centering time around the grandchildren and always made time to be a part of each of their lives.
Floyd was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church, where he served tirelessly in many capacities for over 50 years. He will be greatly missed by his church family, especially his beloved Men's Bible Study and Wendy’s on Wednesday Men’s Fellowship Group “WOW-WOW” as well as many longtime friendships with neighbors, work associates and extended family who loved “Uncle Bud”.
A celebration of his life will be on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Cokesbury UMC, 6701 Idlewild Rd, Charlotte, NC. Visitation is 9:00 am and a service at 10:00 am with a graveside service following at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd, Charlotte, NC.
