Frances Elizabeth Ruppert
August 2, 1938 - January 20, 2025 (Age 86)
Frances Elizabeth (Lechliter) Ruppert, 86, of LaVale, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025 at her residence.
Born August 2, 1938, in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late John Lechliter and Margaret (Lewis) Lease. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Edwin G. Lease, Sr., who raised her; and her ex-husband James P. Ruppert, Sr.
Fran was a 1957 graduate of Fort Hill High School. She was a majorette, in Student Council, the Library Club, and the Civil Air Patrol. She went on to study nursing at Sacred Heart Hospital, then left the program to marry and raise her family. After her kids were raised, she worked as a professional cook at CSX Railroad YMCA, and the Kensington Algonquin. She was a certified sitter and worked as a home health worker at the Kensington Algonquin. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church. She was a homeroom mother at St. Patrick’s School. She was a member of the Cumberland Valley CB Radio Club (and React).
After she retired, she enjoyed taking care of her home. She loved to read and cook. She loved “thrifting”, especially finding a good cookbook. She loved to watch news and follow politics. She dearly loved her family and pets.
Surviving are her children, James P. Ruppert, Jr., Jacqualine S. Wisenberg, Kimberly L. Daum (Thomas “Chris”); brothers, Edwin G. Lease, Jr. (JoAnn), Robert C. Lease (Nahrain); grandchildren, Christopher A. Daum (Sierra Sewall), Jamie Daum, Alyssa Varnadoe (Pierce); great-grandchildren, Faith Varnadoe, Ava Daum, Case Varnadoe, and her newest, Michael Thomas Daum; nieces, Michelle McDuffie, Heather Kirk, Jennie Villarreal, and Judy Swager; as well as many friends, especially William Harris, Brenda Erickson, and Carrie McKenzie.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, on Friday, January 24, 2025 from noon to 1pm. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1pm. Inurnment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
