Frances Self Mynatt

Frances Self Mynatt, age 92, of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, passed away on May 28, 2026.
She was born on March 15, 1934, in Kershaw, South Carolina.
Mrs. Mynatt was a gifted student, graduating as valedictorian from Rock Hill High School in 1952. She went on to attend Furman University, graduating in 1956, and later studied at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. It was there that she met her husband, Rev. Dillard A. Mynatt.
Frances and Dillard were married on July 5, 1957, and shared many years of ministry together as he served as pastor of First Baptist Churches in Madisonville, Tennessee; Forest City, North Carolina; and Oak Ridge, Tennessee. They later retired to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, in 1987. Rev. Mynatt preceded her in death in 2009.
A devoted member of First Baptist Church of Gatlinburg, Mrs. Mynatt had a lifelong passion for missions, her church, and the many friendships she cherished.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dillard A. Mynatt, and her son, Michael D. Mynatt.
She is survived by her son, Daniel S. Mynatt and his wife, Marcy, of Hendersonville, North Carolina; her grandsons, Joshua Mynatt (Madie) and Caleb Mynatt; and her great-grandson, Theodore Steven Mynatt.
The family will have a visitation from 5 until 7 o’clock on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at The Padgett and King Mortuary in Forest City, North Carolina.
A service of committal will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at the Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mission Fund of First Baptist Church, Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Gatlinburg at 1 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
