April 5, 1947 - October 30, 2024 (Age 77)
Frank W. Bobnar Jr. 77, of Jeannette, passed away at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, Oct. , 29, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born April 5, 1947, in Greensburg, PA, son of the late Frank W. Sr. and Irene ( Herbert) Bobnar. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Joseph Patrick.
Frank was a US Navy veteran who served during Vietnam. Prior to his retirement, he was a PA State Trooper (Cpl.) for 25 1/2 years throughout the commonwealth of PA. He also ran a landscaping and excavating company with his son for 15 years. He enjoyed deer and bear hunting, and loved spending time at his camp in Ridgway. He was an avid fisherman. He attended St. Edward Parish in his younger years and was a past member of Ascension and Sacred Heart Churches in Jeannette. He was a caring and giving man, alway willing to help others in need.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Geraldine “Gerri” Bobnar; son, Bryan (Natalie) Bobnar of Smithton and daughter, Krista Gamble of Rostraver; three special grandchildren, Maya and Colton Gamble and Sienna Bobnar; three brothers, Bernard (Mary) Bobnar of MD, Mark (Barb) Bobnar of Cooks Forest and Christopher Bobnar of Pittsburgh; twin sisters, Irene Washabau and Eileen Patrick both of Greensburg; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by his poodle “Penny, “ who was his buddy,
He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and neighbors.
A private Mass was held at St. Edward Church and private interment followed in Westmoreland County Memorial Park per Frank’s wishes.
