Gary A. Baum, Sr.

Gary Allen Baum, Sr., 70, of Greensburg, went to be with Jesus Sunday, October 30, 2022, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 26, 1952 in Greensburg, the son of Donald Baum, Sr. and Evelyn Riddle Baum. He attended Courts of Praise Ministries. Gary was owner and operator of Cook’s Market in Greensburg. His sons and wife, Elizabeth, worked by his side for 27 years as they served their famous Italian roast beef and chicken salad. He loved listening to the music of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Gary found great joy in spending time with his wife and family. Gary and Elizabeth were inseparable, enjoying life together. He was a man of peace and kindness with a sweet smile. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Donald, Jr. and Dennis Baum; his infant sister, Kathy; sister-in-law, Margaret Wright; brothers-in-law, Earl Ruffner, Mauro Ferrarini and Larry Wright. Gary is survived by his loving and beautiful wife of 51 years, Elizabeth “Liz” Ruffner Baum; sons Gary (Shelley) Baum, Jr., Daniel Baum, and Ben Baum; Grandsons Josiah (Jenna) Baum, Andrew Baum, Matthew Baum; and Chance the Bassett; sisters-in-law Ruthie (Roger) DeGroot, Gladys Ferrarini, Emily (Anthony) Ferrarini and Barbara Ruffner; and nephew, Donald Baum III; and several fun nieces and nephews. He laughed often with his best friend since childhood, John (Linda) Claiborne. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1 pm in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Excela Health Home Care and Hospice, 501 West Otterman Street, Greensburg, PA 15601. Gary’s family would like to thank Excela Hospice for their compassion as they tenderly cared for Gary in his last months, especially Crystal, RN and Darcy. We love you, Gary!
