George Ciampa

George Ciampa, 101, a resident of St. Anne Home, Greensburg, formerly of Jeannette, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024. He was born November 7, 1923, in Jeannette, a son of the late Joseph and Edith (Caviggia) Ciampa. Prior to his retirement George was a union brick layer. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII having served aboard the USS Pillsbury Destroyer. George was a graduate of the Jeannette High School Class of 42, and a member of the American Legion Post #344 in Jeannette. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following Penn State, the Jeannette Jayhawks, and all of the Pittsburgh sports teams. George enjoyed his daily cigar, and his Johnnie Walker, and along with his wife were snowbirds traveling back and forth down south with the changing seasons.

In addition to his parents George was predeceased by his wife Yole Giacometti Ciampa in 2019; a brother Joseph Ciampa; and sisters, Betty Jusiak, and Josephine Naeyaert.

He is survived by his children, Joseph Ciampa and wife Loretta of Jeannette, Georgine Hallam of Greensburg, Denise Adams and husband Dave of Clearwater FL., and Kenneth Meservey and wife Jan of Brandon FL.; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and his caregiver Jen Smith.

George’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurse’s and staff of St. Anne Home for all of their kind and compassionate care over the last year and a half.

Friends will be received 9 to 11am Thursday in the John V. Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 228 North 2nd St. Jeannette. A funeral liturgy will take place 11am Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Job Foote, OSB, presiding. Interment with military honors accorded by the Jeannette Combined Veterans will follow in the Westmoreland Co. Memorial Park, Hempfield Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-9959.
