George W. Evans, III

George W. Evans III, 70 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on November 8, 2023, at his residence.
He was born on April 14, 1953, in Zanesville, Ohio, son of the late George W. Evans Sr. and Eveline (Wyatt) Evans. George is a veteran of the United States Marines and a member of the American Legion. He worked for Buckeye Steel Castings in Columbus for 13 years and later at Woda Cooper in Maintenance. George was known to always be building something or taking on a new project. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his loved ones.
George is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Janet Evans; sons, George (Debbie) Evans IV, Michael (Lisa) Evans; daughters, Michele (Joseph) Dilley, Christy (Adrian Johnson) Goins; brothers, Fred Evans, Ronnie (Peggy) Evans, Hank (Sylvia) Evans; sister, Pam McConnell; and brother-in-law, Earl Scoles; grandchildren, Kinley, Kailey, Kobe, Dreau, Cameron, Zoie, Hayden, Nevaeh, Austin, Destiny; and great grandchild, Harvy Lee.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Linda Scoles, Perk Caplinger, Mary Binkley, April Evans; brother in law, Denny McConnell, Jim Binkley.
Calling hours will be held on Monday November 13, 2023, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home. Services will be held on Monday November 13, 2023, at 1:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home with Rev. Darren Tolbert officiating. Burial will follow services at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, where full military honors will be presented by The United States Marines in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29.
