George F. Hamill Jr.

George F. Hamill, Jr., 81, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in his home. He was born October 23, 1944, in Latrobe, a son of the late George F., Sr. and Grace (Bush) Hamill. He was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement he had been a truck driver for SuperValu, telling everyone he was going to “keep on trucking”. George was a member of the AmVets Post No. 88, Greensburg and the American Legion Post No. 981, South Greensburg. He was also a member and president of the 49ers Club, Greensburg, and was able to visit at the club this past Saturday. George loved karaoke and lived life to the fullest. And “yoi”, did he do things his way. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharry M. (Wineland) Hamill; his son, Todd Ziegenfus; and his sister, O'Reeta Malone. He is survived by three daughters, Nancy Barnett (Rev. John), Kris Kush (Rob), and Sally Hamill (Tony Cuellar); seven grandchildren, Cody, Sam, Karleigh, Courtney, Tony, Jr., Christina, and Jennifer; seven great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Mason, twins Henry and Elana, Hendrix, Jaxson, and Charlotte; his sister, Millie Bendl (Tony); several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and his longtime best friends, Ellen and Neil Kush. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 PM Friday, February 6, 2026, at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will begin at 11 AM Saturday, February 7, 2026, in the funeral home, with George’s son-in-law, the Rev. John Barnett officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park with full military honors accorded by the American Legion Post No. 981, South Greensburg Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
