George Leroy Sheppard
December 10, 1927 - July 12, 2021 (Age 93)
George Leroy Sheppard, 93 passed away Monday, July 12, 2021. He was born December 10, 1927 in Zanesville to the late Perley L. and Beulah Quigley Sheppard. He retired from Gould National Battery. He enjoyed playing baseball and coaching. He was a member of the Old Timer’s Association and the Moose Lodge. George was a fan of The Ohio State University and Cincinnati Reds and his favorite players were Johnny Bench and Pete Rose.
He is survived by his children: Terry (Rob Hamilton) Sheppard, Larry Sheppard, Vera Kay (Dean) Hartley and Tina Radcliff; a very special sister in law Sheila Fleming; special friend Ronald Dovenbarger; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Sheppard; and a brother Donald J. Sheppard.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 PM, Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W. MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will begin at 2PM in the Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Michael Allen Hurst officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park.
