Georgette Jakomas

August 28, 1927 – May 17, 2026 (Age 98)

Georgette (Herzog) Jakomas, born on August 28, 1927, in McKeesport, PA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 17, 2026, at age 98, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Georgette was the cherished daughter of the late Arthur and Jeanie (Snedon) Herzog. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Jean Smart, Gladys Bachelor, and Delores Patton, as well as by her beloved son, Philip Menzie, whose memory she held tenderly in her heart.

Georgette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She leaves behind her devoted husband, James (Jim) Jakomas, with whom she celebrated 45 years of marriage on his birthday. She also leaves her beloved sons, Daniel Menzie of Springfield, MO, and Jared Menzie (Debbie) of Smithfield, NC. Georgette was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, each of whom brought her joy and pride.

Georgette, a graduate of McKeesport High School and later of the Central Bible Institute in Springfield, MO, began her career at Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator and later became a Maintenance Administrator.

Georgette was an active member of the McKeesport Assembly of God Church. She also served as past president of both the Home Gardeners Guild and the McKeesport Business and Professional Women's Club, where she left a lasting impact and built lasting friendships.

Known for her quick wit, warm smile, and a joke always ready to lighten the mood, Georgette had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. She was an avid Steelers fan, enjoyed cooking, and was widely known for her baking. She also enjoyed bowling and was the league's lead bowler at age 92.

Georgette will be deeply missed but never forgotten, and we cherish the memories of her love and kindness.

Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 10 a.m., in the funeral home chapel. Committal prayers and entombment will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park Mausoleum.
