Gerald "Jerry" H. Schroeder
June 17, 1941 - June 15, 2021 (Age 79)
Gerald “Jerry” H. Schroeder, 79, of West Lampeter Township in Lancaster, PA passed away just two days shy of his 80th birthday on June 15, 2021, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy, PA. He was born in Staten Island, NY to the late Robert and Mabel (Elmore) Schroeder. Jerry met his beloved Patricia “Pat” Iski on July 29, 1979, and they married on May 31, 1992.
After attending Tottenville High School in Staten Island, Jerry worked as a machine operator for Johnson & Johnson/Permacel, in New Brunswick, NJ before retiring. Jerry moved with Pat to West Lampeter in 2005 and became members of Community United Methodist Church, Lancaster, PA.
Jerry relished the outdoors and loved the mountains. He enjoyed going hunting, fishing, and camping. He had a fondness for animals, especially cats and dogs. He also liked listening to music. Jerry was a very personable, good natured, soft-hearted man who deeply loved his family.
Jerry appreciated the care Pat gave him in his final years, many times saying that he could not make it without her after being diagnosed with dementia 7 years ago. She never left his side as his sole caregiver up until he was called by the Lord.
In addition to his wife Pat, Jerry is survived by his daughter Roxanne Barber (wife of Frank), granddaughters Jennifer and Lauren, and great-grandchildren Ava, Aiden, and Olivia, all of Fords, NJ; his stepdaughter Tricia Bush (wife of Les), and grandsons Kevin and Kyle, all of Waynesboro, PA; and his stepdaughter Tara Ferrari (wife of Michael), and granddaughter Megan, all of Sebastian, FL. Jerry is also survived by one sister, Joyce Vernborg of NJ, and his sister-in-law/godmother, Jayne Carlson of West Lampeter, PA. Jerry additionally leaves behind his feline “babies” Princess and Birdie Girl. He was preceded in death by four siblings.
Private entombment will take place at Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster, PA.
