Geraldine Theresa Murphy

September 28, 1944 - May 18, 2022 (Age 77)

Geraldine “Geri” Theresa Murphy (Husak), 77 of Pittsburgh, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at her home in Allegheny Township. She lived a beautiful, intoxicating life and was taken too soon. A loyal and faithful woman of impeccable taste, she provided comfort and understanding while asking little in return. She was her daughter’s hero and son’s confidant.

Geri was born on September 28, 1944 in Pittsburgh and raised by her late mother Olga and Grandparents Mary and Peter Husak. She was a true yinzer and leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends who were always entertained by her hilarious sense of humor. She truly brought the life to the party n’at.

She was a dedicated Stillers fan and enjoyed listening to The Fan for her sports fix during the off season. Her fandom didn’t stop there; she was her daughter’s consummate cheerleader during softball, she enjoyed watching a good hip check by her son, she loved to watch her granddaughters’ swim…not so much the swim meets, every home “volleyvall” game and the occasional gymnastics meet. If there was one thing Geri was, it was family oriented…no matter the request, she gave her all to ensure her children and grandchildren wanted for not.

A for sure conversation starter, although sometimes difficult for yinz to follow because of her strong Pittsburghese accent. No matter the circumstance, you’d always leave with a story of something funny/crazy Geri did or said while you were with her.

Geri graduated from Oliver High School in 1962 where she made lifelong friends, with whom, to present day had brunch with some “pannacakes”, a good laugh and the occasional Bloody Mary. Immediately following graduation she went to work as a switchboard operator at Bell Telephone and 35 years later she retired from Verizon, but never lost touch with her “Bell Family.” She was Catholic in faith. Geraldine loved to have fun and spend time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing, amusement parks, “rollie coasters” and always looked forward to vacation time.

Survivors include her partner of 42 years, Miller Niksic of Leechburg, a son, Stephen C. Niksic (Amanda) of Leechburg, three daughters, Dawn Serakowski (Daniel) of Leechburg, Vicki Guzzo (Anthony) of Ford City, Leslie Roth of Scotland, five grandchildren, Kierra, Kylie, Aiden, Kamdyn and Kinsley. She is also survived by Aunts and Uncles Andy and Nancy Husak, Don and Dorothy Kraniak and multiple cousins to include her “sister from another mister” Patty Novak (Husak.)

Geri is now at peace, with those who passed before her, and surely having one heck of a reunion. Friends will be welcomed by her family on Tues., May 24, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Clawson Funeral and Cremation Center, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051. A blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wed., May 25, at the funeral home. Interment following at Greenwood Memorial Park, 104 Melwood Rd., Lower Burrell. Luncheon to follow at the VFW in Lower Burrell, Wildlife Lodge Rd. If you wish to make a donation in honor of Geri, please consider donating to the Mesothelioma Center at www.Asbestos.com.
