Gertrude “Gert” Boisseau, age 91, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021 with her husband and loved ones by her side. Gert was born in Groton, MA to the late William and Teresa (Fray) Babcock. She grew up in West Groton, MA and was married for 68 years to her devoted and loving husband, Richard “Dick” Boisseau of Ayer, MA.

She is also survived by her sons, Stephen (Eileen) Boisseau, Grove City, OH, Jeff (Suzanne) Boisseau, Ashburnham, MA; daughter-in-law, Margie Brandes, Apopka, FL; grandchildren, Craig (Alison), Kevin (Liz), Scott (Kristen), Lauren, Jannelle, and Matthew; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Richard “Rick” Boisseau; and siblings, William Babcock, Helen Sullivan, George Babcock, Charles Babcock, John Babcock, and Joseph Babcock.

Gert and Dick lived in New England before moving to Ohio in 1992. She enjoyed her hostess job working at McDonald’s in Reynoldsburg for a number of years before retiring. She enjoyed giving toys and coloring supplies to the children that visited. She made many friends there and continued a special grandmotherly friendship with Haley Hodge. Gert was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind beautiful memories. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother with a gentle and kind heart, always thinking of others. Everyone commented about her beautiful smile. She always reminded family members as they left the house, “Don’t go Fast.”

Friends may visit 4-7 pm Friday, Nov. 5 at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Rd N (St. Rt. #256), Pickerington, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 pm, followed by a Rosary Service. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Saturday, Nov. 6 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 600 Hill Rd N (next to the funeral home). Gert will be laid to rest following at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens in Canal Winchester.

In lieu of flowers, Gert asked donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Shriners Hospital for Children in her memory.
