Gloria A Marks

June 29, 1935 - January 16, 2025 (Age 89)

Gloria Ann Marks, 89, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at her home, surrounded by loved ones. Born and raised in Lancaster, she was the cherished daughter of the late John A. and Myrtle E. (Kinsley) Schaeffer.

At the age of 17, Gloria married her lifelong partner, Richard R. Marks, Jr., and together they built a family filled with love and laughter. A devoted mother of five, she dedicated her early years to raising her children before taking on roles at Slaymaker Lock and Electron Energy.

Gloria will be remembered as a no-nonsense woman with a heart of gold and a touch of sass. She was a fiercely loyal family person who would lend a hand to anyone in need. Gloria’s passions included her love of working, her favorite color purple, and her fondness for shopping on QVC. She proudly called Lancaster City her home for most of her life. Her family holds dear memories of her famous spaghetti dinners on Halloween, a tradition that brought warmth and joy to many. In her later years, she found simple pleasure in watching airplanes come and go at Smoketown and Lancaster airports.

She is survived by her daughters, Pamela A. Quinn of Ephrata and Michele R. Marks of Lancaster, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her son, Richard R. Marks III; her daughters, Kimberly K. and Stacy L. Marks; and her sisters, Arlene Schaeffer, Elise Baker, and Patricia Oakwood.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gloria's life at her Funeral Service, to be held at The Groffs Family Funeral Home, 528 W. Orange Street, Lancaster, on Saturday, January 25, 2025. A visitation with family will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a brief service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Riverview Burial Park.
