Gloria Baucom
December 10, 1933 - August 26, 2021 (Age 87)
Gloria Jane Baucom, 87, of Indian Trail and formerly of Mint Hill, left this world and joined her husband Henry Dwight Baucom in the presence of her savior on August 26, 2021.
Gloria was born in Rowan County on December 10, 1933, the only child of John and Thelma Byrd Howard. She grew up in Cabarrus County. After graduating from high school, she started training to be a nurse and met a young sailor by the name of Henry Dwight Baucom. He swept her off her feet and after he was honorably discharged, they were united in marriage on August 9, 1953. After almost 66 years together, he preceded her in death on July 26, 2019.
Gloria worked in retail for a short time at Efirds and WT Grant, but most of all, she was blessed to be a mother and homemaker to the wonderful family she and Dwight were blessed with. She loved her dogs and reading when she could not be outside preparing the bounty of the garden that Dwight cultivated. Most of all, Gloria loved the time spent with family and friends, and taking care of them when they needed it.
Gloria is survived by a daughter Beth Baucom of Anson Co, NC; son Howard Baucom (wife Debbie) of Indian Trail, NC, and their daughter Heather Baucom Martin (husband Jeremy) and their daughters Taylor and London of Belmont, NC; son Johnathan Baucom, his daughter Brittany and son Devon of Monroe, NC: daughter Ashlyn (husband Justin) and their children Katelyn, Spencer and Hanna of Indian Trail, NC; and son-in-law Stephen Burr of Monroe, NC. She is further survived by numerous other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Dwight, she was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Anna Jane Burr.
Gloria’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 pm on Monday, August 30, at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.
In honor of the love and care shown to their mother, the family respectfully requests any donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Car Charlotte Region, online at www.hpccr.org
