Godwin Obichere Iwuchukwu

Godwin Obichere Iwuchukwu, 63, of Nigeria, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 09, 2021, in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Godwin was born in Imo state, Nigeria, on July 7, 1958, the son of Egondu Iwuchukwu and Iwuchukwu Snr. He was raised in Nigeria before relocating to the United States of America in 1984 in search of a better life. There he found a home in the state of North Carolina. Godwin went on to attend Shaw University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration. In 1994, he met his then wife Kelechi Nwanekwu, whom he went on to build a family with.

Godwin enjoyed many things in life. He was an avid reggae music lover and enjoyed doing handy work around the yard. Being the religious man he was, Godwin spent a majority of his time studying the holy scriptures and with his children, whom he loved most of all.

Godwin is survived by his three daughters: Chioma, Ijeoma and Chinyere Iwuchukwu. He is further survived by four brothers: Samuel, Chikaodi, Emeka, and Edwin; five sisters: Martha, Pauline, Felicia, Chidiebere and Grace; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends spanning from Africa to North America. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and older brother Emmanuel Iwuchukwu.

Godwin's family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for him and for them. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 4, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. Services will take place in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 PM. Following the service, Godwin will be taken in formal procession to his final place of earthly rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.
